Muslim Travel in India | Prayer and Practical Notes

Updated 2026-10-20

A Muslim on the road in India can open the city namaz page and the qibla bearing on this site. Carry a prayer mat and plan where you will find water. Shortening the prayer on a journey is a fiqh question. Ask a qualified scholar rather than a travel page.

Pick the city you are in, or the nearest city on this site, and read Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha. The times are calculated for that point. A masjid in the same city may call the jamaat a few minutes later. Ask the masjid if you can.

The qibla page gives a bearing from north, clockwise, to the Kaaba. A compass on the phone needs a calm place away from speakers and metal. If the sensor fails, use the printed degrees with a map.

Pack a small mat, a bottle for wudu when taps are scarce, and the direction of the qibla for the city you will sleep in. None of that is a ruling.

Shortening or joining prayers on a journey (qasr and jam) depends on distance, intention and the school you follow. This page does not pick a distance or a madhab for you. Ask a qualified scholar.
